My husband is going to school 2 days a week and he works 3 days a week making 12hr, but it is constuction work and sometimes he will not have work due to weather etc.. If he does work a full week, his paycheck is about $250. That is supporting a family of four. We are living at our church and not paying rent, but we have other bills that eat all of that and more over. He has a pell grant and will also get a scholarship for academics. Next semester, he will be going to school 5 days a week for Paramedic, so he will not be able to work. Does anyone know of any grants or scholarships that he could qualify for since he has a family and won’t be able to work to get his degree?

My husband is the only breadwinner of our family. the friend who sold us the policy showed us some complicated math about all the money we will receive if we wait so many years, how it is a great gift to give our kids when they are 21 ..... I'd apply to school and fill out the financial aid form. Also, could your boyfriend teach you to drive? You're only 21 years old and there should not be any rush to have kids. Colleges have really not doen enough to contain their costs. ... The low income students already qualify for Pell Grants and other Financial aid that other grants that middle class and above student don't. If anything, the program should be made so that there is no double dipping if you are eligible for Pell Grants ...
One of the things I told some of my brighter students is that coming from the South Bronx, it's not enough to be just as good as other kids. When you're competing for colleges and jobs, you have to be better. .... changed their minds once she won a Posse Scholarship competition and was admitted to Brandeis. Unfortunately, her family was not here legally and she had to decline. She enrolled PT at CUNY while working full-time since she was ineligible for any financial help. ...
He could look into loans, he could look into getting a job with more hours, you could look into working while he’s not in school, even something like babysitting. You could look into food stamps, you could question the church for more help, if your other two family member are ancient enough to work, they could pitch in. They don’t need everything handed to them on a silver platter make them pull their own weight.
you may have to get a job if your children are ancient enough just work the hours they are in school if not then place them in childcare.
Yes, you can get a job… or a second job to help support your husband and your family.
