III. CRETERIA & ELIGIBILITY

1. Basic Requirements

(1) Bachelor’s degree candidates: At least hold a high school diploma;

(2) Master’s degree candidates: At least hold a bachelor’s degree and two letters of recommendation by professors or associate professors from universities candidates graduated;

(3) Doctoral degree candidates: at least hold a master’s degree and two letters of recommendation by professors or associate professors from universities candidates graduated.

2. Other Requirements

(1) Non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy

(2) Abide by the laws, regulations and rules of the People’s Republic of China and university, have a good reputation, respect teachers and fellow students;

(3) Have a competitive academic record;

(4) Have a valid HSK certificate at or above Band 4 or other equivalent certificates (only for candidates applying for programs instructed in Chinese);

(5) NOT win any other scholarships in China.

(6) Non-freshmen applying for Scholarship D: actively participated in the university activities and other activities organized by the competent authorities; had great cooperative spirit and sense of team-work in the activities.

(3) Copy of valid passport

(4) Highest diploma. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English

(5) Copy of transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English

(6) Applicants for master or doctoral degree studies and senior scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors

(7) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (the report is valid for 6 months)

(8) Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit the legal documents of their legal guardians in China

(9) Valid copy of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) or English proficiency certificates at required level (if applicable)

(10) Other documents shall be submitted at request

University Description
Located in Hangzhou, a historical city blessed with rich resources, talented people and prosperity, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU) boasts a long history of 120 years and a beautiful campus of over 140 hectares.
The Silkworm Academy, predecessor of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, was established by Hangzhou magistrate Lin Qi to realize his vision to save the nation with industry and education in the year of 1897, and one of the earliest ever new educational institutions in China. In the year of 1908, owing to its outstanding schooling performance, it was upgraded as “Higher Sericulture School” by Qing Government with imperial assent. During the period from Xinhai Revolution to the eve of liberation, because of the unrest domestic situation, the school was repeatedly renamed, transferred here and there, underwent vicissitudes and hardships, but had all along been sticking to its schooling.
