Academic Merit Awards recognize CMU students who show interest and passion in the commitments that are highlighted in CMU's mission and vision. These include:

  • Educating for peace-justice
  • Learning through thinking and doing 
  • Generous hospitality through an invitational community and dialogue

Each year up to four Academic Merit Awards (maximum value $4,000; $1,000 per year up to four years) are awarded to students entering CMU. In order to qualify for the award, students must submit an Academic Merit Award Application Form, a 500 word essay answering one of three questions listed on the Application Form, along with one letter of nomination.

These Awards may be awarded in addition to the Academic Scholarships and are renewable for three additional years.

Application deadline for Academic Merit Awards is February 28.

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is a Christian university located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada that awards three and four-year degrees in a variety of programs. A member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), CMU offers classes in three different settings: its Shaftesbury campus in southwest Winnipeg, at Menno Simons College, on the campus of The University of Winnipeg, and Outtatown, a program of cross-cultural study, service, and faith formation with program sites in Guatemala and Africa.
