Scholarship Details

USTC Scholarship was set up by University of Science and Technology of China to provide an opportunity for excellent international students to study at USTC. USTC Scholarship has two categories: USTC Scholarship A for degree seeking students; USTC Scholarship B for non-degree students.

 

1. Coverage of the Scholarship

Tuition waiver;  

Monthly stipend: Bachelor’s degree students: RMB 2,500 Yuan, Master’s degree students: RMB 3,000 Yuan, Doctoral degree students: RMB 3,500 Yuan; non-degree students will receive the same amount of stipend according to their educational level.

 

2. Programs available

All the programs offered at USTC for international students are open for the scholarship applicants.

 

3. General conditions for applicants

1)  Applicants for USTC Scholarship A:

²  Non-Chinese citizenship;

²  Not an awardee of Chinese Government Scholarship;

²  Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must hold a high school diploma and HSK Level 5 certificate and be under the age of 30;

²  Applicants for master’s degree studies must hold a bachelor’s degree (equivalent to bachelor’s degree in China) and be under the age of 35;

²  Applicants for doctoral degree studies must hold a master’s degree (equivalent to master’s degree in China) and be under the age of 40.

   

2)      Applicants for USTC Scholarship B: 

²  Non-Chinese citizenship;

²  Exchange students from USTC partner universities; or excellent students from world famous universities

 

4. Application time

1) USTC Scholarship A: from Dec.15th, 2018 to March 31st, 2019

2) USTC Scholarship B: March 1st, 2019 for 2019 fall semester; September 1st, 2019 for 2020 spring semester

 

5. Application procedures and documents

1) USTC Scholarship A:

submit online application in USTC online application system: http://isa.ustc.edu.cn/

²  Application form for USTC Scholarship

²  Copy of passport's first page

²  Notarized photocopy of highest degree certificate and academic transcript (fresh graduates can provide pre-graduation certificates when applying)

²  Two Recommendation letters provided by professors of applicant’s last school

²  Study plan

²  Personal resume

²  Proof of knowledge of English and/or Chinese 

²  Foreigner Physical Examination Form

2) USTC Scholarship B:

Applicants download and fill out the Application form for USTC Scholarship, contact with related professors for pre-acceptance, send all application documents to the hosting professor

University Description
University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is under the jurisdiction of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). As a key university of the nation, it is noted for its advanced science and high technology programs, unique management studies and well-tailored disciplines in the humanities.
USTC was established in Beijing in September 1958, moved to Hefei City, the capital city of Anhui province, in the early 1970’s, and set up the first graduate school in China in 1978 to effectively cultivate its postgraduate students. Since its very beginning, CAS has adopted a policy of running the university with resources of the entire CAS and integrating each of its departments with relevant CAS research institutes. It has been one of the first institutions included in China's 985 Program and Project 211, and the only university participating in the National Program for Knowledge Innovation. It is one of the C9 League, an association of nine top Chinese universities.
