II. Application Eligibilities

1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;

2.Degree and Age:

1) Non-Degree Language Program and Undergraduate Program Applicants should have at least senior-high diploma, and age below 35.

2) Master Program Applicants should have bachelor degree or above, age below 40.

3) Doctoral Program Applicants should have master degree or above, age below 45.

Note: All applicants must be over 18 years old.

3. Prerequisite Language Requirements:

1) Applicants for bachelor degree programs taught in Chinese should have HSK 4 certificate; For bachelor degree programs taught in English should have TOEFL 50 or IELTS 5 Certificate.

2)Applicants for master and doctoral degree programs taught in Chinese should have HSK 5 Certificate.

3)Applicants for doctoral degree programs taught in English should have at least TOEFL 60 or IELTS 5.5 certificate.

Note: Native English speakers are excluded with English Proficiency requirements.

4. Other scholarship awardees can not enjoy NWU International Students Scholarship at the same time.

VI. Application Documents

1.        Application Form for Foreign Students to NWU with signature.

2.        Copy of Passport Photo page.

3.        Notarized highest diploma (Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date)

4.        Academic transcripts.

5.         Notarized Non-criminal Record (please contact to tonwu@nwu.edu.cn for more information).

6.        The copy of valid HSK or IELTS/TOEFL Certificate.

7.        Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy, written in English, Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.).

8.        Two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors (For Graduate applicants only).

9.        A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English with a minimum of 800 words.

10.    Contact a supervisor of NWU for the acceptance letter (For Graduate Applicants only. Students hold acceptance letter will be highly preferred)

11.    The relative invention patents or published academic papers

 Application Form for Foreign Students to NWU ;

2. Email all the clear E-documents to tonwu@nwu.edu.cn;

3. Once approved, please post all paper documents to Intl. Student Admission office of NWU.

The School of International Cultural Exchange holds the right to make final admission decisions upon reviewing the application documents. Admitted students will receive the admission letter and JW202 (the visa application form) via mail.

Founded in 1902, Northwest University (NWU) is one of the key public comprehensive universities in China. The University is located in the famous ancient yet modern city Xi’an. It is selected as one of the first qualifying groups for the National “Double First-Class” Initiative, and sponsored by the national “211 Project. NWU is currently under the joint administration of the Ministry of Education and Shaanxi province.
